Peacock - Beautiful early 20th century woodblock print based on an original painting of a peacock by Yamaguchi Soken. The bird perches atop a rocky outcropping, peering over the edge with its colorful tail feathers falling over the side. The feathers are beautifully colored and detailed, and the rock rendered with a few deft brush strokes. A clump of bamboo at upper right and delicate flowers below framed the scene, along with a printed black border. A lovely, timeless design, expertly printed and published by Shimbe Shoin. Stamped "Made in Japan" on reverse at lower edge.

Publisher - Shimbe Shoin

Artist - After Yamaguchi Soken (1759 - 1818)

Image Size - 16" x 8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at edges from previous mounting. A couple small tears at edges, tiny -V-shaped tear in subject, repaired. Slight toning. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
