Bando Mitsugoro VI as Matsuyama and Bando Kichiya as Midori, 1869

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene from the play "Nezumi Komon Kiku no Iroage" featuring Bando Mitsugoro VI as the woman Matsuyama, holding the young kamuro or child apprentice Midori in her arm as she peers through the lattice window of a teahouse, pressing her hand against the wooden grate. The girl shivers with cold, blowing on her fingers to keep them warm as snow falls through the wintry gray sky. An interesting subject, nicely composed and detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
