Comments - Outstanding triptych depicting the famous story of the hag of the Lonely House on Adachi Moor, an evil woman who preyed on unborn children to provide her master with blood to drink. A hideous old crone, she grasps a large knife with one hand, ready to attack, dragging her victim along the floor as the beauty slings to the sleeve of her robe. At right, the beautiful Kannon, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, appears inside the run-down shack to provide assistance to the poor young woman. Smoke swirls around the scene, drifting into the night sky above a glowing golden yellow moon. A moody and atmospheric print with wonderful detail and an eerie landscape overlooking the desolate moor. A terrific, dramatic print and an excellent choice for collectors interested in this fascinating old tale.
