Confronting a Beauty

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a samurai confronting a beauty as he stands outside her door. He flings his hand open above his head, tossing what appears to be lumps of charcoal at the woman. She recoils, taking a step back and throwing her hands out in alarm. Two other warriors with woven hats watch sternly at left. Nicely detailed with a subtle burnished pattern in the purple robe and burnishing in the black obi. A handsome subject with vibrant color.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 25 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels. Horizontal centerfold. A few small holes, repaired. Small thinning spot at edge. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
