Series; Suikoden of Japanese Heroes, circa 1843

Omori Hikoshichi Encountering a Demon - Great scene of the samurai Omori Hikoshichi carrying a young beauty across a river on his back. He had recognized her as the daughter of his old enemy, Kusunoki Masahige, whom he had defeated in battle. Her reflection in the water revealed her true form with two small horns on her head, indicating that she had changed into a demon, intent on killing Omori to avenge her father's death. Hikoshichi looks down into the water, scowling as he realizes what she has become, drawing his sword to defend himself. A full moon glows high in the night sky above. A terrific depiction of this old tale.
