Kabuki Couple, 1853

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a couple standing just inside a door. The beauty looks up over her shoulder with a sly grin as she adjusts the dotted towel draped over her shoulder, a small drawstring bag in her other hand. A few loose hairs frame her face, giving her a rather disheveled appearance. The commoner beside her grimaces angrily and carries a lantern on a pole. In the shop behind them, signs hang on the wall and a small teapot sits inside a lamp. Nice expressive figures in an interesting setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 7/8" + top margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A couple wormholes, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases and small marks, faint stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
