Kagekiyo Reunited with His Daughter, 1859

Comments - Touching kabuki scene of the blind Kagekiyo reunited with his daughter, Hitomaru, in the province of Hyuga. The grateful father embraces his child as she kneels at his feet, looking up with a joyful smile. Kagekiyo has been living in poverty, and his robes are tattered and torn, his hair and beard long and shaggy. A full moon glows in the evening sky above the rippling water. Nice expressive figures, with fine bokashi shading in the water and sky.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight separate at ends of vertical centerfold, thinning at edge, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases at edges, ink stain, small spot. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
