Series; Famous Places of Tokyo

Distant View of Mansei Bridge, 1878 - Intriguing scene of Imperial troops gathered in a plaza with circular garden beds in the center. The officers at left wear elegant uniforms with decorated jackets and white pants, while the soldiers on horseback in the foreground and standing at attention at center left wear simpler costumes in bright colors. Clouds separate the figures from a distant view of troops crossing over the stone Mansei Bridge. An interesting subject with lively color and fine detail, including burnishing in the black jackets and hats.
