Series; Twelve Months of Genji

The Second Month, Kisaragi, 1855 - Charming scene from the famous "Tale of Genji" of two beauties and a young girl climbing a steep hill in a garden at night. The woman at left smiles happily as she gestures to the side, while the young girl waves her hands with excitement. Below, visitors stroll about the lovely grounds around a pond, the shore dotted with lanterns, a small building and a notice board among the trees at upper right. An attractive design, nicely detailed with a dusting of mica across the top of the sky.
