Sakanoue Tamuramaro in a Shower of Arrows, 1876 - Terrific portrait of the great Heian era warrior Sakanoue Tamuramaro in battle as a shower of arrows flies past. He sits astride a gray horse, directing his troops with a battle fan. Arrows fill the dark night sky, with a rushing waterfall at left and fallen arrows littering the ground below. An intriguing design, finely detailed.
