Series; Inner Chiyoda Palace (Chiyoda no Ooku)

Boating, 1896 - Lovely triptych of beauties enjoying a ride on pleasure boat to view the cherry blossoms in spring. One woman stands in the prow, one hand on the roof of the cabin to keep her balance as the boat moves forward through the calm water. She wears an exquisite kimono patterned with colorful iris and flowing streams. A young girl seated at the railing gestures to her companions, pointing out a special sight. A terrific composition, the scene framed by a cherry tree growing from a cliff at right. Beautiful detail in the sumptuous fabrics and fine embossed detail in the white kimono collars. A fine choice for display.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 27 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight soiling, slight rubbing at edges, a few creases and small ink marks. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
