Mimachi Ritual at Benzaiten Shrine at Shinobazu in the Eastern Capital - Intriguing scene of a crowd of people visiting Benzaiten or Benten Shrine in the center of Shinobazu Pond for the Mimachi ritual. People make their way along a causeway to island housing the shrine, passing beneath a huge torii gate. The pond is filled with lily pads, with a tall pine tree at right. Wonderful detail and soft color in this fascinating design. An unusual subject for Utamaro, rarely seen in reprint.
