Poem by Kisen Hoshi: Matsumoto Koshiro V as Ishikawa Goemon - Intriguing portrait of Matsumoto Koshiro V as the robber Ishikawa Goemon. He stands on the verandah at Nanzen Temple in Kyoto, peering over the railing, astonished to find his sworn enemy visiting the grounds below on a religious pilgrimage. He grimaces, his eyes, wide as he leans forward, his shorter hair sticking up on top and his topknot combed forward. He wears a striking black kimono with a subtle burnished diamond pattern. Beyond the cloud-like border at left, cherry trees bloom, the centers of the white blossoms delicately embossed. An interesting profile view rather than the more typical three-quarters kabuki portrait. A nice bold design.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A few small holes and thinning spots, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
