Hiroshige’s Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido - In 1832, Hiroshige first traveled from his home in Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto along the Tokaido road. The journey was an eye opening and life changing experience for him. As an urban man of Edo he had experienced life mainly in the capital. He immediately returned to Edo after the trip and began his masterwork woodblock series from the sketches he had made on his journey. Hiroshige's Tokaido prints are an opportunity to be transported back in time to see this world as Hiroshige did in the shadow of the Tokugawa Shogunate.

Hashiguchi Goyo Reprints - Hashiguchi Goyo is one of the most famous and admired artists of 20th century Japanese woodblocks. Often called the "Taisho Utamaro," Goyo’s original beauty prints are 20th century woodblock masterworks.

Goyo also produced two small series of woodblock reprints in his studio. His famous set of Utamaro designs and the present Tokaido series are well known by collectors. Released in 1920, shortly before Goyo's death, Goyo’s reprint sets are of the highest quality. Sparing no expense in production, the paper, colors, and deluxe details are immediately recognizable.

Morning View at Nihon Bridge - This scene occurs around 4 a.m. when the wooden gates of the district were open for early morning traffic. A fantastic first print from the Tokaido series as the daimyo party sets out for the long journey to Kyoto. A great choice for the collector or for display. Beautiful, famous Hiroshige print.
