Samurai Carrying an Insect Cage Kakemono

Comments - Attractive vertical diptych or kakemono of a samurai preparing to catch fireflies, carrying an insect cage and a flat fan to knock them down. The young man smiles happily as he looks over his shoulder, his hair pulled back into a sleek topknot. He wears a blue print kimono tucked into striped green hakama pants decorated with a scrolling floral design, his two swords tucked at his side. The fan features a beautiful scene of a willow tree hanging over a winding stream. A wonderful design, beautifully suited to the tall narrow format.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 26 1/4" x 8 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two attached panels, backed with paper. Slight soiling, creasing from previous rolled storage. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
