Sawamura Tanosuke III as Otomo Wakanahime, 1866 - Great kabuki portrait of Sawamura Tanosuke III as Wakanahime, a princess who has vowed to avenge the murder of her family with the help of spider magic. She smiles as she looks up over her shoulder, wearing a black kimono with a blue netted pattern over a suit of armor. Her hair is pulled back into a low knot over her shoulder, and she grips a spear made from a sharpened bamboo pole. A handsome design, beautifully detailed with fine line work in the hair and bokashi shading in the night sky. Includes burnishing on the black fur cuff of her armor and embossing in the pink and white outer robe pushed down around her waist.
