Printer's Proofs from the Uchida Publisher Archives - When we purchased a wonderful collection of 20th century prints directly from the archives of the Uchida Art Company of Kyoto, the group also included several rare printer's proofs. These trial proofs feature notations in pencil or pen with lines indicating the areas that need to be changed before the final print is authorized. Some images include just a few adjustments, while others indicate extensive corrections to be made. They provide a fascinating look into the artistry and painstaking process of Japanese woodblock printing. An unusual and interesting addition to a collection.
