Imperial Carriage at the Promulgation of the Constitution Ceremony, 1889

Comments - Interesting scene of the Meiji Emperor reviewing troop at Aoyama. He sits astride a light tan horse at center, wearing a fine black uniform covered with medals and a red sash across the chest. Other officers on horseback wait behind him, while at left, a soldier on a brown horse carries a flag bearing the Meiji Imperial crest. Rows of troops stand at attention around the edge of the parade ground. The snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji can be seen in the distance at left. A nicely detailed design.

Artist - Yasuji Inoue (1864 - 1889)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Horizontal centerfolds. A few holes, repaired. Slight toning, creasing, and soiling, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
