Benten Shrine in Snow, Fukagawa, 1884

Series; One Hundred Views of Musashi

Benten Shrine in Snow, Fukagawa, 1884 - Handsome view of Benten Shrine at Shinobazu Pond in winter, viewed through the snow-covered branches of an ancient pine tree that are propped up on wooden support. A couple is visible through the windows of the structure at right, reflected on the calm water below. An interesting design from this rarely seen Kiyochika series patterned on Hiroshige's "One Hundred Famous View of Edo," using similar compositions to provide updated views of Meiji Tokyo, which lies in Musashi Province.

Image Size - 12 3/4" x 8 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A few small tears at edges, repaired. Toning, slight soiling, a few light stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
