Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Peace Negotiations with Korea

Comments - Interesting scene of Japanese officials negotiating for peace with Korean ministers after the Korean uprising in 1882, when the Japanese legation was overrun by rioting Korean soldiers. Here, two men point fingers at each other angrily during the discussions. The Japanese officers wear black military uniforms and plumed caps, while the Korean sitting at the table is attired in an elegant traditional robe and hat. Detailed with burnishing in the black uniforms and vibrant color. An interesting historical illustration.
