Battle at Kagoshima, 1877

Comments - Dramatic scene of a battle at Kagoshima during the Satsuma Rebellion. A rebel leader on horseback turns in the saddle to look back over his shoulder, grimacing and yelling angrily, a sword in his hand. Below, a wounded samurai bleeding from the head, hand, and leg sits on the ground, the blade of his sword damaged and bloody from fighting. Nice expressive figures, with rich color and bokashi shading.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Small V-shaped tear, repaired. Slight creasing and soiling, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
