Onoe Kikujiro II as a Chinese Princess, 1866

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Onoe Kikujiro II as a Chinese princess, resting her chin on her hand as she looks suspiciously to the side out of the corners of her eyes. She wears an elegant robe with a red dragon collar rimmed with a yellow ruffle, her hair pulled back into a smooth bun adorned with an ornate headdress featuring a phoenix figurine and beaded fringe. The text panel at upper left features an allover embossed pattern with horizontal stripes in yellow and green. A beautifully colored and detailed design in an interesting format.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 12 7/8" x 8 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight thinning at corners, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few spots and creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
