Fukiage Garden Fishing Bridge, 1879

Comments - Handsome triptych depicting court beauties strolling across the fishing bridge in the Fukiage Garden at the Imperial Palace. In the center, a lady-in-waiting shelters a princess with an umbrella as she watches cranes flying overhead. At left, another attendant looks over the cable of the suspension bridge at the water below. Blossoming cherry trees frame the scene. A charming design we've never offered before, nicely detailed with embossing in the white kimono trim.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 28 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels. Small loss, a couple small tears at edges and thinning spots, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
