Jade Rabbit - The monkey here is the immortal monkey who accompanied Triptaka on his journey from China to India in the seventh century to collect Buddhist scriptures. Here he is playing with the rabbit on the moon. This is fantastic Yoshitoshi design is often considered the masterpiece of his 100 Aspects of the Moon series.

Reprints of this classic Yoshitoshi design are rare to come by as none of the major publishers printing reprints did the Jade Rabbit. The few images that exist we small output printings from cottage publishers. This print is attractively colored and detailed with lovely bokashi shading.
