Shy Beauty and Young Man in a Teahouse, 1852

Comments - Interesting scene of a couple in a teahouse, with the beauty keeling at right, looking down shyly with a dreamy expression as she rests her head against her hand. At left, a young man frowns at her angrily as the woman kneeling beside him watches him with a worried expression. The silhouettes of patrons and beauties dancing and enjoying themselves can be seen on the shoji windows lining the next room. A handsome design with expressive figures and nice architectural detail in the interior setting.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 19" x 13 1/2"

Condition - Two separate panels, backed with thin old folio paper. A bit of soiling and rubbing on surface, as shown. Nice overall.
