Arguing over a Helmet, 1882

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a samurai holding out an offering tray with a horned helmet topped with a dragon. The warrior behind him reaches for his sword, grimacing angrily as he stares at the fellow at lower left, who looks up at him defiantly. The warrior wears a black kimono with a beautiful burnished geometric pattern. At upper left, a beauty looks forward with an alarmed expression, her mouth slightly agape, while the nobleman at lower right frowns as he eyes the warrior. Nice architectural detail in the interior setting, with a red screen featuring waves at right and the room opening onto a garden with a lake.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14" x 28"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Small loss, a few tears at edges, repaired. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
