Original Kyosai (1831 - 1889) Japanese Woodblock Print
Lucky Gods Daikoku and Ebisu Counting

Comments - Interesting triptych depicting Daikoku and Ebisu, two of Japan's famous Seven Lucky Gods. Daikoku sits at left, leaning against his bag of never-ending treasure and shaking his magic mallet overhead as he grins happily. At right, Ebisu leans over an abacus atop a stack of open books, a brush caught between his teeth as he concentrates. His basket of fish and a fishing pole are shown beside him, and a young woman kneels at his side, giggling into her red kimono sleeve. Nicely drawn with lively calligraphic line.

Artist - Kyosai (1831 - 1889)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 28 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels, backed with paper. Folds. Small losses at corners, a few tears at edges and holes, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling, stain. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
