Lord Hidetada, No. 24 - Charming scene of Ocha no tsubone, one of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu's lovely attendants, delivering a tray of cakes to the shogun's son Tokugawa Hidetada. Ocha stands in the garden holding a red lacquer tray covered with a purple cloth, looking over her shoulder at the woman outside the garden gate who had offered the cakes as a gift. Hidetada stands in the doorway, shining a lantern into the courtyard. The inset above shows fisherman pulling in a net on the beach at Suruga. A beautiful image with plum trees blossoming against the evening sky. Nice color and detail, including fine embossing on the white kimono collar and a subtle burnished pattern in the black kimono.
