Ichikawa Kigan V as Otomi, 1927 - Terrific shin-hanga kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Kigan V as Otomi in the play "Yowa nasuke ukina no yokogushi," which is commonly known as "Kirare Yosa." She looks over her shoulder with an expression of curious interest as she dries her neck with a blue print towel, a small red bag hanging from the corner of her mouth. She wears a blue striped kimono with a black collar over an under robe with an intricate design of undulating lines in two shades of blue. The side of her nose is delineated with an embossed line extending upwards to her shaved eyebrows, and the background features swirling gray baren marks. A beautifully expressive portrait from Shunsen's "Creative Prints, Collected Portraits of Shunsen," a series lavishly published by Watanabe in a limited edition of only 150 prints.
