Beauties on the Sumida River, 1877

Comments - Fantastic kabuki triptych featuring three beauties strolling along the Sumida River in winter. The woman in the center carries an umbrella and wears a blue violet kimono with a great design of a dragon and Mt. Fuji in the rain. The beauty at left leans forward with a dismayed expression, her robe decorated with a turtle with a mossy shell biting a circular object. The woman at right watches her companions carefully, a toothpick in her mouth. She wears a kimono with snarling tiger and flowering bush clover on it. Snow-covered buildings line the opposite shore, and smoke rises from a fire on a raft at right. A bold design with terrific detail in the striking kimono.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14" x 27 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few light creases. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
