Taira Ghosts Attacking Yoshitsune's Ship - Incredible scene of the ghosts of Taira Tomomori and his fallen warriors rising up out of the sea to attack Yoshitsune Minamoto's ship as he crosses the sea at Daimotsu Bay. The ghastly spirits emerge from the raging water, two of them grabbing onto the swords of Yoshitsune's men. At left, Tomomori directs his ghostly troops, the spirits below him brandishing swords above the waves. Some have skull-like faces devoid of flesh while others leer with open mouths and flowing hair. In the front of the ship, the warrior monk Benkei holds up his prayer beads, seeking to vanquish the ghosts. A fantastic illustration of this great samurai legend, rendered with amazing detail and creativity. This rare ghost design would sell in the $2,000 range in excellent condition.
