Sawamura Chojuro V as a Samurai with His Horse, 1849

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Sawamura Chojuro V as a samurai standing beside his horse, holding the bridle of the lively animal. He stares over his shoulder with an angry frown, his sword in his other hand. A wooden chest is tied to the horse's back with a thick rope. Delicate willow branches wave in the breeze against the blue sky above. A great design, nicely composed and colored.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 10"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Creasing, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
