Iwai Kumesaburo III as Ushiwakamaru, 1850

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Iwai Kumesaburo III as the young samurai Ushiwakamaru, the childhood name of the master swordsman Minamoto no Yoshitsune. He rests on one kneel, looking up with a sly smile, his weapon in hand. The trunks of pine trees frame the evening sky behind him. A nice expressive figure.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few small wormholes, repaired. Creasing, slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
