Modern Children's Games, circa 1835

Festival Parade - Charming portrait of two young boys taking part in a festival parade. One carries a signpost topped with a basket of flowers, with swirls of simulated water rushing over the sides. His companion holds two noisemaker blocks, clapping them together above his head as he walks. His green robe is patterned with takaramono or precious things, emblems of prosperity and good fortune, such as a magic mallet, a straw hat that makes the wearer invisible, and sacred jewels. Wonderful color and detail. A great image from this rarely seen series.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 13 3/8" x 8 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color as shown. A couple small holes, repaired. Ink offsetting, slight creasing, a few marks. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
