Original Kokunimasa (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Battle during the Sino-Japanese War

Comments - Dramatic depiction of a battle during the Sino-Japanese War, with troops clashing on horseback and on foot. In the center, a Japanese officer on horseback slices through a pole arm held by an enemy, who tumbles backwards on his horse. At right, more soldiers charge up the hill with swords ready, boats ferrying additional troops across the water behind them. At left, a Chinese general gallops ahead followed by his infantrymen, while an explosion rocks a fortress in the distance. Nicely detailed with shading in the water and night sky.

Artist - Kokunimasa (1874 - 1944)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 27 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few small holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and ink marks. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
