Oiso no Tora, No. 39 - A beautiful illustration of the courtesan Oiso no Tora in mourning after the death of her lover, Soga Juro Sukenari. The Soga Brothers sought to avenge the death of their father, who was killed by Kudo Suketsune. However, Juro was killed during the attack on Suketsune. Heartbroken and distraught, Oiso no Tora wandered the countryside praying for Juro's soul. Here, she collapses weeping on the ground, her attendant sheltering her from the rain with a hat. Mt Fuji is wreathed by clouds in the distance. The upper section depicts a scene from the final fight of the Soga Brothers. Lovely detail and light embossing in this poignant image.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A couple small tears at edge, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
