Takeda Katsuchiyo Killing an Old Badger in the Moonlight, No. 3 - A fantastic ghost print illustrating the story of Takeda Katsuchiyo attacking the wooden horse where he had stored his saddle. The horse had been taken over by the spirit of a badger and recognizing the deception, Takeda killed the animal. A dramatic scene with the wooden horse tipping backward, the blankets, reins and fringe fluttering as Takeda swings his sword. The badger tumbles to the ground at right, its mouth open in a howl of pain. An incredible action scene with a great composition and wonderful detail, a full moon glowing high in the evening sky.
