Series; Mirror of Thirty-two Good and Evil

Bando Hikosaburo V as Fuwa Banzaemon, 1867 - Bold kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo V as Fuwa Banzaemon, who steals a precious scroll entrusted to the care of his fellow samurai, Nagoya Sanza. The pair meets accidentally in the Yoshiwara one night, resulting in a fight. Banzaemon stares ahead with a tight-lipped frown, gripping his sword with both hands. He wears a black kimono with a striking pattern of swirling clouds and red bolts of lightning. A few cherry blossom petals flutter down through the night sky. A great design from this rarely seen Kunichika series.
