Hanai Oume Killing Minekichi, 1887 - Dramatic depiction of the geisha Hanai Oume stabbing Minekichi, a bloody knife raised above her head in a heavy rain. Prior to his murder at her hands, Minekichi had been stalking Oume after a love affair between the two had ended. In this scene, Oume finally snaps and kills her former lover. A grisly and striking design by Yoshitoshi and one of the most sought-after images from this series. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has this image in its collection.
