Otome, Chapter 21: Bando Takesaburo I - Handsome portrait of Bando Takesaburo I as a young man waiting outside a teahouse. He wears a check kimono patterned with paulownia blossoms, his sleeves folded across his chest as he looks to the side pensively. His thick hair is pulled into a topknot tied with white cord, and clusters of red flowers and white blossoms dotted with pink and red form a border between the figure and the background. His lover waits for him above, standing next to a sliding screen, her bed concealed behind a folding screen at right. A poignant expressive figure, nicely detailed with embossing in the white cord and soft shading in the background.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Small losses at corners, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
