The Second Month: The Fox Tadanobu, 1852

Series; Parody of the Twelve Months

The Second Month: The Fox Tadanobu, 1852 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Nakamura Utaemon IV as a magic fox disguised as the samurai Tadanobu in the play "Yoshitsune Senbon Zakura." He crouches like an animal, with his hands held out before him like paws, a small hand drum in his mouth. He looks over his shoulder with a worried expression as he attempts to steal the drum. The portrait appears in an inset with an allover embossed yellow background, set against a night sky with a blossoming plum tree. A great design in an interesting an unusual format.

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Thinning and small loss at edge, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
