Series; The New Biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi

Watching a Performance, 1883 - Fantastic scene of a group of noblemen watching a masked performer. The dancer wears a fearsome blue mask with large fangs and bushy eyebrows and hair. He wears an exotic costume with a flowing golden robe trailing on the ground around him. The noblemen sit quietly below the edge of a verandah, the daimyo at right sitting on a fur skin. Cherry trees blossom in the background and a pine tree frames the image at right. A striking design with rich jewel-tone color and wonderful detail.

Artist - Toyonobu (1859 - 1886)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 17 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. Small thinning spot, small hole, repaired. Slight soiling, very slight ink offsetting. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
