Scarface Otomi, 1864

Comments - Interesting scene from the tale of Kirare Otomi, which literally means Scarface Otomi. The mistress of a gang boss, the beauty Otomi was caught during a tryst with her lover Yosaburo and slashed all over by the boss and his men in retaliation. She now manages a teashop, and is shown in conversation with a guest. She smiles at him sweetly as he grins up at her, smoking a pipe, scars visible on her face and arm. At left, the blackmailer Yasu the Bat, so-nicknamed for the large bat tattoo on his face, watches with a tightlipped frown, his arms firmly folded across his chest. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Kuzo, Sawamura Tanosuke, and Nakamura Shikan. Nice large, expressive figures, detailed with fine line work in the hair.
