Series; Flowers of Edo in Old times

A Procession of Feudal Lords Visiting the Temple at Ueno, 1889 - Handsome view of a feudal procession visiting the temple at Ueno. At left, two porters in white robes and black caps carry a large trunk over their shoulders, the chest emblazoned with the three hollyhock leaf crest of the Tokugawa Clan. A group of samurai follow behind, their robes tucked up at the waist to keep them from getting dusty and dirty. The daimyo rides in an enclosed palanquin, his face screen by a fine reed blind, followed by additional retainers and trunks. A wonderful image filled with detail and attractively colored. Includes extensive burnishing in the black areas, and fine cloth embossing in the white robes.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 27 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few pinpoint holes, not noticeable. Slight soiling, a few small spots, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
