Series; Barometer of Emotions, 1876 - 1877

Clouds of Cherry Blossoms: Sawamura Tossho II as Kobaimaru, 1876 - Terrific kabuki portrait of Sawamura Tossho II as the young boy Kobaimaru disguised as a courtesan. He holds an umbrella over his shoulders with both hands as a wind blows a shower of cherry blossoms petals down through the dark night sky. The sleeves of his purple kimono are decorated with blossoms and flowing water, worn over a red under robe with a delicately embossed white collar. He looks to the side with a wary expression, watching out of the corners of her eyes. A handsome design, beautifully composed and detailed with fine line work in the hair and additional embossing in the red obi. A rarely seen kabuki series by Yoshitoshi.
