Princess Komachi by Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Princess Komachi

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of an actor as Princess Komachi in the play commonly known as "Seki no To." She has just arrived after traveling to her fiance's home in the country. She lifts her hat with a sly smile, looking out of the corners of her eyes. She wears a straw raincoat over a red kimono patterned with cherry blossoms and tied with a blue print obi. Her hair is pulled back into a large bun adorned with light blue flowers and ribbons, with two longer locks falling over her shoulders. A nice large expressive figure, detailed with embossing in the white kimono collar.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, a few spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
