Ceremony of the Issuance of the Constitution, 1889

Comments - Interesting view of government officials attending a ceremony at the Imperial Diet Building to present the new Meiji constitution to members of the cabinet. Rows of men in military uniforms line the room, with foreign diplomats at right. Nicely detailed with burnishing in the black uniforms.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Small tear at top edge, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, a few spots and stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
