Viewing Cherry Blossoms on the Sumida River, 1878

Comments - Charming image of the ladies of the Imperial Court enjoying an outing to view the flowering cherry trees along the banks of the Sumida River. The beauties wear colorful outer robes over white kimono tucked into red pants, and one carries an umbrella. Behind them, a woman carries an ornate lacquer tobacco set up the embankment. Cherry blossoms frame the red sky with a view of Mt. Fuji in the distance. An attractive design, detailed with faint embossing in the white kimono trim.

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown
