Spring Stroll along the River

Comments - Attractive scene of beauties strolling along the river embankment in early spring. Some of the women are smiling, but others exchange unhappy glances as they walk along. The woman in the center wears a blue kimono bordered with flowers and balancing doll toys, edged with a light blue and white geometric print and tied with a gray and brown obi. Boats move up and down the water, while kites fly high above the rooftops on the opposite shore, a favorite activity at the New Year. Mt. Fuji can be seen in the distance at upper right. A charming design wit wonderful detail and fine bokashi shading.

Artist - Kuniaki (1835 - 1888)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29 1/2" + margins as shown
