Kato Kiyomasa and Elderly Woman

Comments - Interesting kabuki print featuring Ichikawa Danjuro IX as great warrior Kato Kiyomasa, talking to an elderly woman in an encampment outside a burning castle. Dressed in armor, he grips the elegant black lacquer handle of a naginata with both hands. The woman looks up with a grimace, clutching the edges of her outer kimono, as orange smoke pours up into the night sky. A handsome design, detailed with embossing in the woman's white kimono and hair.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14" x 27 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color as shown. Three separate panels. Slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
